Marketplace was an illustration series exploring the relationship between places, and people's relationship and interaction with them. Markets are known to be very vibrant, busy places, provided that there are plenty of customers visiting, so the aim in this series was to convey a progression of how the market as a place changes when more people are around. I showed this transition using colour and varying amounts of detail; when there is a single person in frame, the image is largely colourless, though as the series progresses with more and more people, the amount of colours and saturation of these colours becomes much greater. The trolley bag is somewhat of an icon of the series that represents the marketplace, it is present in every frame and is the one thing that maintains its visual presence with colour, the growing a bit more in every image.
